Design and branding of quality for oak building business

Established in 1980, Westwind have been producing beautifully crafted oak buildings for 30 years. Their main selling points are the exceptional quality of their work and their ability to offer the personal service of a family-run business.  Our challenge was to reflect these messages in their communications.

We developed a new identity that represented the values of the business and then applied it to a new corporate brochure and stationery – all using FSC certified paper stocks, of course. The focus was on the quality of their workmanship and attention to detail – but with an element of fun appropriate for a friendly, hands-on business. The design carried through to their website, which includes a wide range of case studies and an engaging gallery area that enables customers to really feel the quality of their work, online.

Bringing Swiss Quality to SwissQual

SwissQual approached Fathom with an excellent client list, strong heritage and an enviable reputation. But over the years their branding had fallen behind. We’ve helped refresh their full corporate identity, bringing it up to date and rolling it out across their communications.

SwissQual is one of the largest independent providers of quality measurement of mobile and fixed telecommunication networks. Our challenge was to revive their branding so it reflects the business today – and in the future. To do this, we applied our 360˚ approach – delving deeper into the organisation’s brand and creating consistency across all their every communication, both on and offline.

Deeper, wider, closer

Our first step was to develop an in-depth picture of SwissQual and get to the core of their business, so we carried out a series of brand workshops with all their employees in their Head Office in Switzerland.

Once the key messages were defined and a creative route agreed, we headed for the Alps, photographers in tow. There, we captured a portfolio of shots that epitomise the rugged robustness of SwissQual’s engineering – and created the line ‘All terrain technology’ to help bring the message to life.

Back at base camp, we rolled out the refreshed brand across everything from their website to corporate and product literature, from exhibition stands and event collateral to templates and direct mail campaigns. The branding now even adorns their office interior, exterior and fleet of vehicles.

The result is a bold and fresh identity that reflects the strength and durability of their engineering – and the extreme conditions their technology can endure – all underpinned by a strong sense of Swiss quality.

Fathom @ The Mobile World Congress 2011

Fathom has just created an exhibition stand and brand experience for SwissQual at one of the biggest exhibition’s in the event calendar; The 2011 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. Along with designing and building the stand, we created brochures, a product launch video and even branded chocolate Swiss army knife giveaways.

This year it was the biggest and best ever and a record 60,300 attendees from over 200 countries and the first real “outing” for the new SwissQual brand we launched last year.

Luxury and heritage – bywords for Fathom’s design and branding for the Rolex World Sailor of the Year Awards

For the third year running, Fathom has created communications for the Rolex World Sailor of the Year Awards. And, once again, this highly prestigious ceremony demanded the most elegant and stylish of designs.

Hosted by Rolex and the International Sailing Federation, the World Sailor of the Year Awards is one of the most renowned events on the nautical calendar – and the pinnacle of sailing achievement.

This year, the awards will be held in Athens, in the majestic Zappeion Hall. This neoclassical venue presented the perfect inspiration for the design of the event’s collateral. The challenge was to make sure that all communications exude a sense of refined quality, befitting the ISAF  – and the iconic Rolex brand.

Elegance and style

We developed a design scheme using gold ink and high quality, pristine white uncoated stocks, which created the appropriate gravitas and a beautiful tactility. We carried the design through all aspects of collateral including the very first letter guests will receive, the invites with detachable entrance cards, menus and table name cards. And we made sure every last detail reflected the graceful, elegant and stylish nature of the event.

Premium fund brochure for luxury property developer

At Fathom, we pride ourselves on the amount of repeat business we win. Which is why we we’re delighted to work again with luxury London property developer, Albyns.

In 2008 we created their new corporate identity and company collateral – including property brochures and their new stunning website. This time around we developed a stunning 60 page fund brochure, detailing their work and services. The aim was to attract new investment to their developments.

Our designs focused on the quality of their work using a formidable photo library that we had built up for them and tactile black foils on matt black stock. The end result is a brochure that represents the exceptional interior and exterior standards in their impressive portfolio of Chelsea developments.

An eye-catching corporate identity for a brand new business

Icon is a new company specialising in producing analytical software for the oil refinery industry. As with any new business it was vital for Icon to make an instant impact on the industry when it launched… which is why they turned to Fathom for help.

We wanted to make sure their identity portrayed the technical side of the business, as well as their more chemistry-focused work – which can include very specific tasks such as measuring molecules within a hidden pipe. So the identity we developed incorporates an icon that is both a flame and a droplet of oil or water. We call it the ’FireDrop’. With a strong use of yellow and black, it really stands out as a contemporary and striking design – while a clever use of foil refers to the glossy nature of oil.

Having developed Icon’s identity, we developed brand guidelines and templates and rolled the design out across their brochures. A new name Prism inspired a fresh identity that was launched through targeted advertising and magazine false cover wrap. Micro site, touch screen presentations and brochure helped launch the new brand at the Event Show in London where it won Best Stand.
